Will be used for 90% gaming and the rest just browsing the internet.

Does this look ok?

My budget is £850 for just the tower.

Im looking at going crossfire with another 5850 in the next couple months will the power supply be enough or a bit overkill?

Anything I may have missed?

Thanks

Youll have to oc that memory to get the full 2000mhz as the baord will only take 1600 without a overclock.

Ditch the akasa thermal paste and get some MX 3 its much better

Aside from that the spec looks fine. The 650w will be fine as the 750 and 5850 have a Extremely low power draw on idle and load so another 5850 wont sweat the psu

Thats a whole lot of PSU! I think you could probably get away with less - maybe swap to a modular corsair one - there isn't much room in an Antec 300 so a modular PSU would help with the cable management.

i5 boards aren't the best for Crossfire either as the PCIe lanes will only run at 8x and 8x due the total number of PCIe lanes available.

Take a look at the corsair HX750 for your PSU if you want to Crossfire still. If not go for a HX650 and maybe get a 5870 instead of Crossfiring 5850s?

2x 5850s will only lose 2-4% on a p55 board max so crossfire isnt an issue tbh

Modular PSU like franksi said might go better but i would say never skimp on the PSU its better to have too much than barely enough.

My old rig runs a 750W and i doubt it draws more than 350w

Ok thanks for the replys so far.

The reason i was going to crossfire is because the 5870 was an extra £100 than the 5850 which i could afford now. (don't think I will manage waiting another month to build it :D) and then add another when the need arrived.

so change the ram to 1600 and get a modular psu say around 700w?

A 500w or 650w would do you to be honest, ild say get 650w and then that allows room for future expansion. The i5 750 and 5850 really drawnot very much power.

Ok thanks didn't realise that they used THAT little power.

How does that look, the cheaper power supply allows me to get a better case i was now thinking the antec 900?

Sorry if I'm been a bit of a pain its my first build

No problems, if you can now afford a bigger case... GET IT! itll help with the airflow in the case and cooling.
i'ld say antec 900 or Coolermaster HAF 922

85w idle 157w Max Load for the i5 750
27w idle 170w Max Load for the 5850

So those 2 peices combined:
113W idle and 327w Load

and if you add another 5850 making 3 major components that equals

140W idle 497 Load

Ha - this is the EXACT same build I'm going for. RAM and everything. Though I'm going the H50 so as not to intrude on the 1st DIMM slot if I ever want to upgrade to 8GB.

PSU is a good choice. People usually seem to suggest the Corsair equivalent, which is quite a bit more expensive.

Oh, and I'm going for the Antec 300 as if functional and not too flashy. I like my computers to look understated, not like UFOs :)

DEFINATELY get a modular PSU, I just built my new system up with an Antec 300 and really regret it, it's very tight for cable management!

There's hardly any space between the motherboard tray and the panel as far as I'm aware., so everything on mine is zip tied into bundles and shoved in the bottom of the hard drives rack.

How does this look then?

Thanks for your help :)

Right i've just ordered the above mostly bar the case and windows as already got them now. Due to money issues i couldn't afford the gpu and havent ordered one. I am planning to get a 5850 soon but in the mean time will i need to get a cheap £30 one so i can actualy use the computer for the time been? I have a 5 year old computer at home not been used with a gpu but is there much point using it? dont really want to bugger up the new build.

Thanks.

As long as its pci-e itll fit but may run like a bag of ****e on the new Rig. you cna pick up a 46**series for around £50
