Hi all,

(I know my username ends in i7, but by the time I got round to buying one - I decided i5 was better!)

Ok, just built an i5 system on an Asus P7P55D MoBo on Win 7 x64.

All going great so far, except, I've only got 2GB of my 4GB RAM recognised.

My computer>right click>properties>shows 4.00GB RAM instslled but only (1.99 GB useable). Task manager shows the same.

A google of this reveals the common answer is to reseat the CPU. Is it that simple?

Any other suggestions welcome.

Cheers,

F.....

Also, you may want to try one stick at a time. If one doesn't allow the system to work properly, then you may be looking at a dead stick.

Hi Millsy,

Thanks for your reply.

Defo installed x64. RAM seated correctly, using the dual channel slots as instructed by the MoBo manual.

thanks for that, andi,

But, if one stick was dead, would 'My computer' properties stilll reognise 4 GB installed?

I had a faulty stick (one 2GB DDR2 of 4Gb total) that ran and even posted most of the time. It showed up as the full 4GB when in windows and obviously BSOD a

Eventually I checked the sticks individually. One worked fine, the other wouldn't even post. Mystery solved, RMA started.

I asked because you could be experiencing something similar to what happened to me.

Thanks for your replies.

I did get it working in the end.

The B1 DIMM slot needed a wee bit more pressure that the A1 DIMM slot needed. As there's only one moving clip on the ASUS P55 boards, I didn't realise one end of the B1 DIMM was a gnat's wotsit out of the slot.

Now that's sorted - let the OCing commence!

Cheers
