i5 / i7 CPU & Mobo Bundle

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my FX-4100 CPU to either an i5 or i7 so am looking for a complete Mobo budle with 8-16gb Ram also. I'm looking to spend between £150 - £200 and would like to see some really noticable improvements to games such as Sims 3 / Dayz etc. which seem to be limited by my current CPU.

How much of a difference is there betwene the i5 and i7? Also how much between my current FX-4100 and the i5?

Any reccommendations / comparrisons for bundles available on OCUK would be really appreciated.

The difference between an i5 and i7 is really not that much, for gaming, the i5 almost matches the i7, it comes really close in many benchmarks.
An i5 4670k (or 4690k) is a lot faster than an FX-4100, by a considerable amount.

Just keep in mind that bundles don't always offer huge savings, and sometimes it's worth spending a little extra to get what you need/want instead.

You won't be able to get an i5 bundle with that budget if you're buying new.
If you could grab a second-hand Sandy/Ivy (2500k/2600k/2700k/3570k/3770k) setup that would probably be your best bet.

If you don't want to go second-hand, the new anniversary Pentium can be overclocked well and will give you really good performance in lightly-threaded games.

Then a board for them are about £80,and that is without RAM. You would need to increase your budget or chose an i3 or what F2K8 suggested
