The title says most of it..

need a new CPU/Mobo/Ram combo to update my PC the rest of the parts can stay as I think they're fine.

Priced up a few budles and the I5/Asus P55/G.Skill Ripjaw came to 342 quid which i thought wasnt bad but then decided to price up a AMD and got
Phenom II 955/Asus M4A785TD-V Evo/G.Skill Ripjaw which came to around 290 quid which to me for a higher stock clocked processor the same Ram was a good deal.

So which is the best platform to go for? Personally I think that the AM3 socket may last longer seen as Socket 1366 is already ahead of 1156? which i need help understanding the difference? and finally the AMD mobo is chipset 785g do i need to pay the extra for 790Gx? what are the differences in them??

thanks in advance!

yeah generally gaming with the odd bit of graphic work but nothing my current spec cant handle so i think the cheaper AMD is calling
