I am trying to decide on what setup to get. It will mainly be used for video editing and as a htpc but i do have a few games that I play sometimes. I want it to be a future proof as it can be and have as much bang for my buck as possible (£600).

I dont need any HDD, CD/DVD drives or operating system as I already have these.

At the moment it looks like this.

Asus Maximus III Formula Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £187.99

The problem is that I keep hearing that AMD is more likely to be future proof than i5 and the AMD build is about the same price wise as i5.

So what one would perform better if they were both overclocked to 3.8?

Thanks for any help.

Dan.:)

Amd is more future proof but saying that there probably going to release some new CPUs for 1156, At 3.8 they will be within 2 fps of each other.

Bang on :)

RAM is ideal.

Have you got a graphics card to put in it?

I have one that will work untill I can afford a HD5770 and a better cooler.

Now I just need to justify all this to the better half.;)
Im hoping to do it as a christmas present that I get a little early.:D

Thanks for the help.
