I am trying to decide on what setup to get. It will mainly be used for video editing and as a htpc but i do have a few games that I play sometimes. I want it to be a future proof as it can be and have as much bang for my buck as possible (£600).
I dont need any HDD, CD/DVD drives or operating system as I already have these.
At the moment it looks like this.
Asus Maximus III Formula Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £187.99
(£163.47) £187.99
(£163.47)
Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail £159.99
(£139.12) £159.99
(£139.12)
Corsair HX 650W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650HXUK) £96.99
(£84.34) £96.99
(£84.34)
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL) £82.00
(£71.30) £82.00
(£71.30)
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU) £46.99
(£40.86) £46.99
(£40.86)
Sub Total : £499.09

The problem is that I keep hearing that AMD is more likely to be future proof than i5 and the AMD build is about the same price wise as i5.
So what one would perform better if they were both overclocked to 3.8?
Thanks for any help.
Dan.
