i5 or i7

Hi,

Which is generally recommended for an average user these days? An OC'd i5 build or an i7?

Looking to play the occasional game, however, I'm after a future proof'd setup for circa 3-4 years playing the odd "new" game at 1080p

I5 if gaming and i7 if you do video rendering, file compression etc. Games never used extra threads on I7 and probably never will. However I7 will be beneficial if you go SLi or corssfire with 2 high end gpu's. Hope this helps
