If that's all you're doing, it probably wouldn't.

If you're encoding or doing anything that can make use of the increased multithreading capabilities, then it might be worth the extra cost.

I have the i7 I am looking even further forward to the i9 6 cores 12 threads oooooo my bank is swearing already.

If you have not gone i7 the i5 is looking like a decent alternative tbh.

Most people would probably say the i5-750. Personally, I'm looking at the i7-860, which is essentially the same but with hyperthreading. So long as it's a reasonable price difference, of course.
