i5 processors OcUK Stock Available ?

Set my alarm for 11.55pm :o hoping some pricing will be on around then or before :p . Can't wait for some reviews.

Might be wasting your time... but i may well be checking myself around midnight.

MSI has a ludicrous launch offer for tomorrow (Tuesday the 8th September), with 55 per cent off the price of its premium Intel P55 motherboards. It's first come, first serve on a single batch though, so get in quick if you're after one.

Get your fingers on F5 from 2pm (14:00 BST) and is limited to one board per customer from (competitors) and Overclockers.

I read on another thread here that the MSI boards don't clock well - OcUK isn't using them in their bundles for that reason? So you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the boards offer as well as a bundle.

Personally I'm waiting for some good benchies, but the prices so far, especially the motherboards, are encouraging compared to i7.

I just can't believe we are this close to the launch and there are no real concrete leaks on pricing of the CPU's and M/B's and no benchies comparing i5 to AMD. I mean, what's the world coming to when NDA's hold and aren't broken willy nilly ?

From the leaks performance of the i5 750 is very very similar to the i7 920 for anything that doesn't benefit from hyperthreading or require obscene amounts of memory bandwidth (So anything but video rendering, server workloads, etc)

I am very much looking forward to release and have a new system planned.

Seen the 750 going for £171 on an English retailer's website...still holding out hope that OcUK can pull off some sort of magical bundle deal though :)

If thats the case i might consider going i7 instead, the 920 is only £30 more and get the MSI x58m at £130 which is supposed to be good for the money, i'll only run dual channel for a time as i already have the memory but i can upgrade that at a later date to triple.

Just make sure your memory is the low voltage stuff, I7 and I5 need sub 1.65v's unless you know what your doing and dont mind frying the cpu :D

I have seen it today for £159 although doesn't appear in their search on their site yet, it appears in a google search for this particular etailer :-)

Continues his patient wait for ocuk preorders.....

I was hopping for around the £140 mark, this is going to have to work out around £100-150 cheaper going 1156 than 1366 for me to consider it, otherwise i7 920 system here I come!

It's going to have to be no more than £30 more expensive than a PII 955 system for me to go with it...

I'm also erring on the i7-9xx side. It all depends on the chip prices I see tomorrow!

From the ones I have seen only rendering/processing etc makes i7 the better chip.

My main high-CPU activity is RAW file rendering. My current PC takes 20-30 seconds to render a single 20-MiB RAW file, which is quite annoying when I'm, for example, trying to decide which of 10 similar shots to keep!

I'm not entirely sure how multithreaded camera raw is. I've certainly not noticed CS3 being *very* multithreaded with Bridge / ACR on my Core2Duo (6300, 1.86ghz - its due to go)
