Would a stock i5 cooler be compatible with a q6600 socket?

Can anyone link me a guide to overclocking the i5 2600k using asus saberthoot p67 ? (h100 corsair watercooling)

Thanks :o

Good to hear it's acient at least I wownt have to buy another cpu cooler for my other pc :D

About overclocking I found a guide and read some good articles yesterday. Think I'm ready to OC. I hope i can get my i5 to run at 4.8ghz at about 1.4v.

I think that overclock should be safe under h100 corsair cooling.

I don't think so.

An i5 processor would be S1155 or S1156 (the mounting holes for these are the same).

A cooler designed to fit those would not fit the mounting holes for S775.

I think you might incorrect there mate regarding the 1155 and 1156 mounting holes in the Mobo. They're about 2mm different so an 1155 cooler will not fit on an 1156 mobo. The only option is to get cooler specific for the socket type. Best bet is to get an aftermarket cooler that has the various mounting options available

Nope he's right 1155 and 1156 coolers ARE interchangeable. 775 are different hole centres (although my Motherboard will support all of them, due to having 2 sets of holes)

To the OP there's no such thing as an i5 2600K, it's an i7 2600K :D

A few coolers now utilise a single bracket/backplate for all three intel sockets, using a prolimatech supermega here which features such a bracket. But for the TRUE on my second rig, i had to purchase a 1366 bracket as it only came with s775 and 1155/6.
