Hi,

I was considering building a system with the following:

Asus P8Z68-V LX motherboard, i5 2500K, Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2x4gb) 1600 CL9, crucial 64gb M4 SSD.

My budget is about £350 (£400 max). Does anybody have any alternative suggestions/tweaks?

I have an ATI HD5770 I was planning to continue using. System is for some casual gaming like starwars old republic and a bit of matlab number crunching, but not i7 requirement.

Thanks for any assistance.

thanks. Is the 2500K not better "bang for your buck" considering the 3570k wont clock as high and is hotter?

IB is tempting as it's new, but as it's end of line for socket 1155, is SB a better saving as it's unlikely the motherboard will be used for a CPU upgrade before the next socket is released?

I'd stick with the 3570K - you can still get a decent OC out of it and the price is good.

Get a Z77 board for sure, as they're not any more expensive but have a few more features [than Z68 for example].
