Hey,

Got my i7 2600k a few weeks back and was interested to see what PPD increases there were to be gained from overclocking and to maybe share that data with other people here so that you can see what sort of PPD you can expect from various clock speeds. I've only gone up as far as 4.5Ghz so far but I'm on air and therefore trying to keep the temps under control. :)

I also wanted to see what the effect of running two smp clients with 4 cores each was so i've included that as well. Obvisouly, the projects themselves all differ in terms of PPD but the following are my findings so far.

For bigadv it appears there is a ~1k PPD increase per Ghz overclock from 30k PPD base at stock speeds.

I haven't looked at your results properly however, your statement of 1k ppd increase per 1ghz increase in clock speed will be incorrect. This is due to the way the bonuses work, a 15% reduction in frame times will generally give around a 25% increase in PPD

I don't think we do, the only other member that folds on sandy is Dekez and he's running at 4.5ghz
I don't think so. I've had SB since day 1 although it's currently at a mere 4.2GHz. If I'm not running the GPU at the same time, it gives about 42k PPD.

Sorry snapshop I wasn't aware you was running SB, no offence or anything of that nature.

I should have worded the sentence a little better.

Those figures are good to know, nice one :D I've been fancying a SB for my daily machine, just waiting to hear about the solution the the problem with the SB chipset before I start buying...
