I have been running my cpu at 4.6ghz with no issue but I have taken up a new hobby 3d rendering and needed a lot more memory.

I bought kingston hyperx beast 1.65v 2400hz ram I will be running 4 sticks.

I wont be running them at the full 2400 maybe 2133 at most
here is my question.

Will 1.65v be safe on my 2600k cpu which runs at about 1.33vcore.
any advice would be awesome.

Sorry about grammar and spacing posting from mobile

I know that. I just would like to know if memory that runs at 1.65v is safe in SB systems? I found a lot of info.. all contradicting each other

I remember when I got my 2500k a few years back, at the time I had a 1.65V 4GB memory pair before I upgraded to an 8GB kit.

I remember sending a message in the customer support to double check this same issue, and was told by one of the OCUK guys that it would be totally safe to use 1.65V ram.

I used the 1.65V memory for about 6 months and it doesn't seem to have done any damage to my CPU.

well, my system didn't explode.

it will not run at 2400hz, don't mind much, I had an idea it wouldn't, and I have no clue what to tweak to get it running safe and stable.
don't think i'd see any performance from the extra stress either.

atm its running 1066hz (2133) 1:8 11 13 13 32 t1
1.65v

vccio 1.15
vccsa 1.1 (I set this just to make sure)

cpu temps idel 34c full load temps 65c.

if anything looks out of place please let me know, i'm still sitting here waiting for the pop and the blue puff of smoke.

lower your voltage to 1.5/1.55 on the ram. 1.65 isn't safe.

What a clueless statement to make...

Pardon me for saying it but that's a whole load of horse ****!

As an example here is the manufacturers spec sheet for my own Avexir Core Blue Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit -

LINK

Please note the voltage differences between the JEDEC Standard and that of the manufacturers own XMP profile.

Well my RAM has a 1.65V XMP profile which my AMD system can't use as it's an Intel only spec, would be a bit stupid if none of their CPUs could use it :p

The sticky post you linked to is a knee jerk reaction to some scaremongering that went on at SB release time.
Certain Forum members were running around crapping on all the SB overclocking threads spewing there 'good advice'
OCUK become a laughing stock in other tech forums because of it.

Oh, OK, thought I'd just link what was recommended by OCUK, of course it is up to the individual whether he/she takes that advise or not. Note that it is also stated that after testing there didn't seem to be any reliability issues @ 1.65V.

Hope this helps the OP out.

they did say 1.575v was safe limit on sb,but ive used much much higher without any issue

I wouldn't worry at 1.65v tbh
