I'm trying to get above 4.6 GHz but I'm not having much luck. I live in a warm, south-east facing flat, so ambient temps are quite high. I have a good case and good CPU cooler so not much I can do there, though maybe I guess I could reseat the H70 to see if I messed it up when fitted.

OK so I have it currently at manual 1.37VCore, and this allows a stable 4.6GHz overclock, mid 30's idle and high 70's load.

I'd like to use CPU offset, so when my PC is sat doing nothing, VCore drops, but I can't seem to manage it.

I have Load-Line Calibration set to extreme, and if I set the offset to +0.02 VCore reaches way over 1.4V under load. If I set it under 0 then I get instability. I have tried putting Load-Line Calibration to high instead of extreme, but then I get instability.

The only way I get stability atm is to use manual VCore which is what I'm trying to avoid.

Memory is set to XPM and V on the sticks is at 1.6V

Help please?

Cheers, I think they are based on the old BIOS so some settings may differ maybe? I will look tomorrow at work when I have a chance to sit down and digest.

I can't for the life of me get this CPU above 4.5GHz while using offset mode (not really tried on manual as I'm not interested in that), saying that, it's a fairly hefty overclock and when under load vcore is 1.360 and when idle it sits at just above 1.

Offset is +0.02, load-line ultra high, phase and duty to extreme and CPU Current to 130%.

If anyone has any pointers then please let me know, I would really like to hit 4.8-5GHz but it's not looking likely.

4.5 shouldnt be a problem even with the h70 which i think is completely awful. I had one of them for a few days, worst cooler ive ever had. The back plate is terrible, the small gold screw holders that go through are poor quality and the cooler itself isnt liking keeping still. I know 3 people that have sold there h70's quickly and replaced with the newer better designed h80 with fan controller. Some people may say they like it, but its just one unrealiable piece or junk. Thats probably why corsair discontinued them, they would have received so many complaints about the poor quality of them and knew it had to be done. Do you know how to use offset? your vcore at 1.36 with offset set at +0.020 should be plenty for that clock with no problems mate.

Well it dropped my temps a fair bit and it seems to be on secure enough? I certainly cba changing it, unless someone can prove to me with before and after temps that it'd be worth the outlay and effort.

I'm not 100% sure, I think it adds the offset ontop of the VID, though not sure how to find that. Had a BSOD so had to up it to 0.03 now and seems better.

Well the way i started to find the VID, was open up coretemp and run prime and see what it goes upto in there. Then work out what you need from there. Im too in the middle of overclocking my 2600k, you may have seen a few threads ive started over the past week about it. Still testing , currently upto 4.8ghz. Anyway if i can help i will, but im no overclocking expert, im still learning myself, but im sure a few of the lads on these forums can give you some good proper answers.
