i7 2600k Batch#

Just got my Intel i7 2600k chip
Batch# L130C017 Malay

Not sure what batch numbers mean really?
Is it a new batch or good for overclocking?

I think they're all about the same. I've not heard of a new stepping on any of the SB chips so I think they're all the same stepping, and generally that's the only thing that makes a difference.

It doesnt make much of a difference at all. I have had cpus from the same batch/week/stepping and one will run at 4.5Ghz all day every day and the other wont. At the end of the day they are a cpu that just has an unlocked multiplyer and if it was stable at +1 on the multiplyer and nothing more then you would still have the product you have paid money for.

Luck of the draw. In any case, a few extra 50-100 mHz does not affect much in reality.

Heavy LN2 overclockers are the group most concerned over batch number.

Well..new rig set up and working, overclock in my sig, I think the cpu will do more, but I`m really happy. )

Theres a list of batch numbers and what OC was reachable on those chips on hwbot. Though there (as said) seems to be no trend what so ever to what is achievable, it seems 5+ghz is do-able on the majority of chips however.

I searched my batch number, one guy could only hit 4.8, the other could hit 5.2, so its just down to luck.
