i7 2600k core speed?

oh ok, i have my power options set to 'high performance' i presumed it would stay maxed out. least i know now. cheers

Speedstep drops the multiplier when theres little going on. No reason to turn if off unless you're having stability problems with an overclock, saves some power/heat/noise

deffo leave it on, why have it working its socks off when doing nothing. It ramps up to max when needed anyway.

Intel Stepspeed. It lower and raise the clock depending the application you're using. If an application you're using is intensive then the clock speed will raise otherwise it will just lower it. It's just an energy saving feature. Best leaving it on.

It's SpeedStep, but thanks for joining in and repeating what everyone else has already said.

Was about to make the exact some post about my I5 2500K =P it shows a 1598 core speed when it should be 3300

Thanks for saving me the trouble =)

buying (k) editions that are superb for OC and having no clue of the silicon they got there.

/facepalm :P

/facepalm2 with 10000 posts :P

You what?

it was a fair question for one to ask coming from a 100% AMD background, i asked as i wanted to be sure that i had my bios set correct and was getting the best out of the cpu. Furthermore you can see my friends pc from the first post shows a different speed which again prompted me to ask the question.

Also i can't overclock my cpu in the current shuttle system i have, so no fail there. i purchased the (k) edition as it was the same price and will ultimately have a higher resell value or can be used on other systems with overclocking possibilities

What does a post count have to do with anything?

finally who are you, and how is your thread any different? asking questions about your first ever nivida card?

calm down.

its a difference to ask such questions in a shop owners forum, even though they might be lies, with the aim to get reasonable more accurate answers

the post counter might have something to do with knowledge... or just spam ;)

you make very little sense.

and like i said before you asked a like for like question. you come across as a bit of nobber and a troll.

postcount has bugger all to do with knowledge, it's a forum, lots of sub sections, i post a lot in the battlefield thread and take part and muck in on many of the sub sections, also been on here for 6 years...
