i7 2600k overclock

I wouldn't run above 1.4v 24/7,it could degrade the CPU

Offset will only give you lower idle temps/voltages

OCUK previously advised 1.425 as the maximum safe voltage for Sandy Bridge, with offset and llc the CPU only ever draws maximum voltage under 100% load which is very rare. I've been running my 2700k at 1.424 max for years and it hasn't skipped a beat and I don't expect it to. I've read from various sources that Intel have said these chips are good for 1.5v, I guess this isn't general advice because cooling becomes a real issue.

Brilliant chip there Andy7!!!!

If you can then there's no problem. But for a 24/7 clock 4.6 is a big jump from 3.4. The extra 200mhz will help in benchmarks but not always worth the extr volts and heat.

I fully understand your point especially where you are looking at high voltages and temperatures but this was not the case in this instance and so I didn't agree with that advice and I'm willing to bet that Andy7 is glad he didn't take it.

Thanks for the replies guys. My brother has decided to run his rig at 4.8Ghz. He has been gaming on it with no problems and the temps are fine. Happy days :)
