Firstly i would like to thank Overclockers uk for such a great forum. Secondly its members who help :). thanks!

so my question i have the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Z68.

and bought a i7 2600k :D. i will be using the stock cooler and my case is CM 690 ii lite.

how would i overclock is small steps or straight to 4.6? and do all i7 2600k reach at least 4.9?

Do not use the stock cooler for over clocking you will most likely fry your CPU so buy a better one before doing anything OC wise. This one is on offer at the moment ;)

what?

aslong as he overclocks slowly without silly voltages he wont even throttle the cpu
and if he goes beond the heat limits of the cpu it will then throttle
he isnt gonna fry a chip

@ op, just go up to 4.4 and run prime blend then go up 100mhz at a time and all will be well

+1

You won't fry your CPU overclocking using the stock cooler, you will just be limited.

The Silver Arrow is excellent if you can afford it, the A50, less so.
