I7 2600k to new cpu useing same board.

As mentioned above, you can, but I'd say it isn't worth it as you won't get most of the features that IB supports anyway using that MB (PCI-e 3.0, MVP etc.). I'd say just stick with what you have unless you can upgrade for no extra cost.
 
I agree with the above but would also say that there would be little gained even if you switched over to ivybridge fully as the 2600k is geat cpu that should last you a while yet
