i7-2700K Price Point?

I'm wondering, based on past Intel releases, which of the following is likely to happen when the i7-2700K is released?

a) i7-2700K replaces i7-2600K at its current price point and the i7-2600K is discontinued.
b) i7-2700K appears with a higher price point than the i7-2600K.
c) i7-2700K replaces i7-2600K at its current price point and the i7-2600K's price point is lowered.

Basically I want to know if waiting until the 24th (rumoured i7-2700K release date) is worth it. Thanks!

Intel have already stated the 2600k will remain at it's current price while the 2700k will be about $25 more.

^ Yup, pointless chip is pointless, at stock it won't be noticeably faster, and they'll overclock the same. Better to save your $25 and get a 2600K.

Why would you pay around £20 more for a 100MHz bump in the clock speed?

And unless you make use of hyper threading the 2600K or 2700K isn't really much of an upgrade.

Don't bother upgrading from 2500K to 2700K. You won't notice it unless you are an encode freak.

wat? anyone who buys a 2x00k chip is gonna overclock it anyway. hence 2600k and 2700k are effectively the same chip.

and also - upgrading from a 2500k? are you serious? that's completely pointless for 99% people. even if it isn't pointless per se in your case, it definitely isn't worth the money.
