i7 3770k serious issue

Hey guys,

Just recently purchased the i7 3770k and used the CL liquid pro I've heard about and kinda wished I didn't.

The system won't boot whatsoever and when checking the q code I have noticed that the system will hang on code 62 and then hang on 03 (on both maximus v formula and gene boards) before rebooting. It does this continuously and wondering if I either have a DOA or that liquid pro has helped to burn out the chip.

Any thought please.

you delided the chip yourself?

are those boards both z77 not z68? if z68 you should have flashed to latest bios first with your old sandybridge chip, then installed the ivybridge chip (probably unsupporting bios)

Firstly, I didn't realise that deliding was mandatory from what I saw on the CL vids for applying the liquid pro!

Secondly, I checked the gene's cpu list and noted it would take the 3770k so didn't see a problem along with the formula.

if you havnt delidded then don't worry,i just wondered, liquid pro will still improve things

I verymuch doubt you've killed your cpu with that paste, even less so with a non delid

it will support the ivy chip but 99% sure it will need the latest bios for it to work correctly, you can either purchase a cheap sandy Celeron cpu and flash bios with or pull out the bios chip and order an upto date chip/latest bios off
flebay

idk if you still have your old cpu?

Code 62 is a ram error I think? what ram do you have? Have you set xmp profiles? also have you tried one ram stick at a time?

code 3 im not sure on

Try this

pc off, remove any storage drives, reset the cmos (should be a button on most rog boards, hold down for ~5 sec) reconnect drives and turn it back on.

I already tried that method through other searches and also tried different memory in both boards but still the same result

should work then with latest bios, have you checked cpu socket for bent pins?

checked/cleaned the gold contacts on the underside of cpu?

I did have an issue with this on the formula board as it was hanging in code 55 which was a ram error but I managed to fix this where as the gene board hasn't git that issue

you tried only one ram stick in second slot from cpu socket?

fully clearing the cmos might help, esp when swapping cpu's,battery removal/leave out a good 5 to 10 minutes then put back in and try

Yeah. That's what the manual suggested to do also. I tried all 4 sticks separately and even an old stick I had. Still nothing happened. I can't see that being an issue if my i5 still works though

any chance you could try the 3770k in a friends pc?

tbh if the cpu doesnt work in 2 different boards then it is more than likely the cpu

You didnt get the liquid pro in the cpu socket did you?

Ohh,

Was it a used CPU? Could be doa but its rare for a faulty/dead CPU

Can't think whatelse to try

CPU was brand new

No liquid in the socket as gene board in a second pc. Used standard paste on it too.

How did you clear cmos? Button or battery left out for 10minutes? Battery method is best

If still no joy all you can do is rma the CPU to place of purchase or Intel, then see what happens with the replacement

Initially i did the button on both but then decided the battery pull for 10+ mins but still the same result. The only downfall with the RMA is that when removing the liquid pro from the CPU, I accidentally removed its markings (branding) as i stupidly used the included wire pad.
