i7 3770k usage is this normal?

On Crysis 3 i maxed at 60% i think but sometimes that was as low as 30%! thats with an overclocked 7970. Doesn't low usage mean a bottleneck?

The CPU usage might change depending what zone you are in.

If you open up task manager and look at the performance tab, do you see a dip or spike in usage when/if you get a frame drop?
 
well my gpu hits and stays around 99% in BF3 its a bit up and down, perhaps its meant to be like that, just on my i5 oveclocked it hit something like 80%
 
BF3 is cpu bound Crysis 3 while it likes cpu performance is more gpu. For most games a single 7970 will bottleneck a 3770k even at stock. a 3770 even at stock will probably do most games for the next 2 or even 3 revisions of graphics cards in most games its the graphics cards that do the hard work the cpu is just there to process and feed the cards the info
