Hi at the moment am using an i5 2500k @ 4.8 ghz but am sure am not getting the max of both my 290`s.
Am not sure what to do, get all new parts and go with the 4770k or just get the i7 3770k and that should be able to handle both my 290s.

3770K would be a nice drop in upgrade. Save a fair bit as well. As said the performance of a 4770K is better but then again a 4790K would be better again but would also cost a fair bit more.

I have the 3570k but would like the 3770k. The main reason is the higher OC speeds

My mobo OC's the 3570 to 4.2 and the 3770 to 4.6 at the touch of a button.

The slight speed increase will help.

Sorry, but 400 MHz won't help in terms of gaming comfort change. Hypethreading is something that will help, especially with multiGPU.
