Hi.

Over the last week I've been upgrading my system. I'm currently on my 2nd motherboard which is an ASUS P8 Z77-V Pro. So far so good. No random crashes, BSOD of general weird stuff going on. The old one was a Gigabyte GA-Z77X.

Anyway I'm looking at the Basic Information Screen in Windows (right click computer and hit properties) and my CPU speed is currently at 2.50GHz. I was under the impression that it was meant to be running at 3.70GHz. Is the 2.50GHz speed correct ? Does it go faster once say a 3D game fires up ?

It's been a seriously long day so my head is not really in the game at the moment so if anyone has two seconds free I'd like an answer so I can go to bed knowing what's what :)

Ta in advance :o

3.7ghz is the max turbo speed, depending on what the system is doing, the Turbo Boost will increase the multiplier to the required speed.

But 2.5ghz is correct.

Thanks pal. As long as it's working fine I'm happy. Is there a way of knowing what the clock speed is when it's in a game (for piece of mind) ?

Your Welcome :)

CPU-Z will show actual CPU Speed but you might need to run the game in Window mode or even run Prime to check the speed.
