Hey, looking for a bit of advice on an odd scenario please, in this scenario I have the following:

1x Asus Rampage IV GENE
1x Samsung Green (2x4GB) 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
1x Intel Official LGA2011 HS/Fan
2x Intel Core i7-3820

And basically using that I have to figure out which 3820 to keep and which not to, so I would like some advice please. Obviously with the standard Intel LGA2011 cooler trying to find which one can do 4.5GHz stable at the lowest voltage under Prime95 is off the table lol, so figured I would see if you had any idea, perhaps I could just undervolt them at stock clocks and see which does the best? or does that not translate to better top end performance?

Thanks.

Will be interesting to see what results you get :) Please post them once you've finished experimenting. The best I'm seeing on my 3820 is 4.5GHz with 1.29v. Sorry I cannot advise you on methods though!

Best quick method for binning the CPU's is to see which will boot into Windows at 5ghz with the lowest Vcore. This works well on SB-E and takes little time.

So reset Bios. Set 125 strap and 40 multi. High LLC, 1600mhz RAM and see what boots all the way to windows at the lowest Vcore. Done!!!

As a side issue you need quad channel RAM so four sticks to get the best out of the quad channel CPU memory controller.

Excellent that's exactly the kind of instruction I was after thanks man :) For 5GHz I think im gonna have to use a high CFM side fan as the Intel LGA2011 cooler seems to just be the LGA1155/56 cooler with a transparent fan and some screws lol, should be doable pretty easy though.

Don't worry I'm not that bad, I was just listing the bare stuff I had available for testing the CPU's :P
