Could someone put my mind at ease on the following.

I own both an i7 3770k and i7 4770 (non K). I was watching the CPU wattage usage in Argus Monitor and noticed at idle the 4770 uses around 8 watts where as the 3770 uses around 4 watts. I have also noticed at load the Haswell computer is reporting more wattage then the Ivybridge machine. I have checked bios on i7 4770 computer and all power saving appear to be enabled.

I would be grateful if anyone with an Haswell setup could install Argus Monitor (link below) and monitor the CPU wattage the software reports.

Many thanks

The figures quoted will be an estimate, and possibly not a very good one.

In any case, whether it's 8 or 4 watts is inconsequential - that's less than most energy efficient light bulbs you'll have in your house. At full speed that CPU uses ten times that figure.

The Hawsell machine also reports around 15w more then the Ivy bridge under load. As you say it's possible the figures are estimated, I just wanted to make sure all the power savings have been enabled.
