In a world of my own
I've just got hold of an inexpensive 4790 to replace my old i5 processor and I'm curious about operating temperatures. Stock Cooler.

Sitting at 44C while idle (well, typing this message....) and hitting 75C while playing Pokerstars VR.

My GPU is a GTX 970, I have a Super Flower 450w PSU.

I'm seeing some stuttering in VR on lowest settings, but that may be entirely down to the 970 not being up to scratch anymore. I'm just trying to determine if my issues are CPU or GPU related - ie: is the CPU getting too hot, or bottlenecking the GPU or perhaps having power issues from the PSU.

Any advice gratefully received.

Yeah I'm using the stock cooler - and it's not the K model chip, just the basic 4790. Sitting here typing this the temps across cores are all at 44-46C. I'm guessing a better cooler is the next step - any recommendations for something that will do the job without being overkill?

Cheers!
