I have been trying to overclock my CPU using the AI Suite 3 that comes with my Z97-K motherboard but I'm not sure it's working like it is supposed to? There is an option in the bios to do the same thing as the windows software have tried both and both do the same thing. When i start the process the computer restarts then it keeps turning off and on for and continues to do this for over 30 minutes, in the end i just turn the computer off a boot it up as normal as it doesn't seem to be doing anything, am i doing something wrong?

Yes you should be overclocking manually a step at a time and testing for stability at each step so you can understand what is happening and what your next step needs to be. Auto overclocking is never recommended as you never get the best results and often voltages are set way too high leading to out of control temperatures and potentially chip degradation. There will be plenty of overclocking guides on YouTube for your CPU and motherboard.

was looking in the beginner thread for overclocking, it goes over my head :S

Yeah I can understand that, I would search YouTube for overclocking 4790k on Asus and you should find something you can follow.
