Hey,

Been looking at getting a new CPU as mine is getting a little out dated, i know it is a good chip and been more than happy with it but wondering if it is worth getting something like the i7 9700k which i can get for a decent price now? only downside is i need to get a bundle with MB and Ram.

But the 4790K has been a great chip and if its not worth the money then fair enough :-)

Just look to see what you think?

I agree with Jamie on this one, i appreciate your input Glanza but AMD i'm not that keen on and in regards to budget (i should have stated) is around £600ish for the whole lot so should be fine for the 9700K

I only really use my machine for gaming so didn't see the point in the 9900k as the gaming performance compared to the 9700k isn't much but the price is.

So jumping from 4790k to the 9700k would be a worth while improvement?

The same as the other two threads on same topic about same CPU, I would wait and see whats new from AMD and Intel if you are not struggling in games now.

4.4GHZ is not much for a 4790k (better silicon than the 4770k) try for at least 4.6GHZ if you want a gain in gaming esp at 1080p and even 1440p, you would need be at 4k to remove nearly all the bottleneck (see recent review for your CPU).

I have a 4790k @ 5GHZ and had a 1080Ti FE but fan bearing acted up so now have Titan Xp (Both GPU's can do 2100MHZ Core but Titan Xp can do 13GHZ Memory (1080Ti was 12GHZ)

So you reckon i should overclock the CPU instead? Don't really want to wait for next gen as the prices are normally stupid high and i'm not really wanting to go over the £600 mark. Plus i feel you can get stuck in that " wait for next gen" rut for ages and end up not getting where.
