i7 4ghz overclock bundle

hi, i am new to the forums and needed some assistance.
i currently have a amd dual 6000 and i think it is time to upgrade, as it is really struggling with playing games(emulators pcsx2). cubase & playing 1080p films.

and i dont have a graphic card that has any hd acceleration (8800gtx).

so basically i want to replace my motherboard, cpu and ram , and this bundle looks like i will be able to egt the most from it, 1080p films no problems, encoding movies/music/ playing games.

i have a antec 1200 case would it be suitable for the overclocked bundle?

also what sort of temperatures would i expect?

also would my power supply be able to handle the bundle?

A 4Ghz i7 will kick out a tremendous amount of heat under load.

If you have any doubts about your PSU and cooling you'd be better off buying the parts separately and doing any overclocking yourself whilst keeping voltages at default.
 
Answer to that also depends upon the rest of your kit, as graphic cards drain a lot from a system. If you was running an i7 without any card (using on board), then a decent 400-450 should be good, if you are using any kind of decent graphic card, then you wanna look at a 600 or more.
Remember you need stablity as well as power. A cheap psu prob won't supply stable currents under load, so if you are replacing your psu get some reccomendations from here. :)
 
I went for the be quiet 850w, VERY VERY stable.
I could have probably coped with 750w but im trying to future proof for when all singing all dancing DX11 cards draw more than i had anticipated i dont want to need to change the PSU just cause i wanted to save £20!
 
i got a 8800gtx and i know first hand it sucks a lot of power as the 8000 series was not very effiecient + it produces a lot of heat , would i need 1000watts + as i have 4 hardrives, antec 1200 hundred case + 6 fans etc?
 
No, a decent 850 will do an overclocked i7 2 GPUs(though possibly not to GTX295s) with ease. I recomend the corsair HX850 personally.

The case is a good one for this job.

With my 4GHz bundle I'm seeing max 84C after 10mins of prime. Average gaming temps ~60C.
 
thanks man, hazard0 just curious, are you using the antec 1200 if so are the fan speeds set on there lowest settings?

No I'm using a coolermaster HAF922 (similar cooling capacity), the fans are all motherboard controlled though.
 
To save starting another thread I too am wondering if my Enermax 600 watt psu will be sufficient for my upgrade?

Going from whats in my sig to an i7 920 C0 oc'd to 4.3ghz (hopefully), 6gb Patriot ram, Gigabyte UD5 mobo and a ATI 4890. All this will be watercooled with one loop running a pump, 120.3 rad, cpu block and gpu block.
 
Regarding PSU's there is no magic number in terms of wattage, by that I mean PSU quality varies from model to model and between brands, I have an 800W BFG which is flawless and a 1000W OCZ which exhibits problems with my overclocked i7.

The best way to tell if a PSU is sufficient is to try it for yourself and see. :)

Are there even any X58 mobos that have integrated graphics??

I haven't seen or heard of any that's for sure...

@OP, I have seen a couple of people on other forums using 600w PSU's for their i7 rigs without any issues...

Though I personally would go for 750w and above just to be safe...

When I first put my i7 rig together I was using my old Hiper Type M 630w, and it was working just fine....
 
Used 620w Corsair on my I7 system with a 4870X2, only changed due to the fact I was getting problems, in the end it was a faulty second set of RAM.

There are no X58 far as I am aware at the moment.

so are you using 12gb or the 6gb with the bundle?

as i read elsewhere that the overclock settings might need tweaking once another set of 6gb are added
