I have purchased a new 5960k i7 from an auction website for respectable but going rate from a repulable seller.
The CPU was advertised as new, delivered in full Intel packaging and did have the intel seal on the box which I cut.
Looking at the CPU once I took it out of the plastic packaging, the metal lid looks a little bit scratched, the side bits on the lid where the braces on the board would go do seem to have some scratching. the top of the CPU also has a very very faint square imprint on it, although it seems too small for a CPU block as its only 3/4 the size of the CPU. All these are very faint but makes me wonder about the CPU.
I do have another Intel boxed NEW 4970 to compare (which i bought direct from OCuK) and that actually also is not pristine on the lid, maybe its just the intel manufacturing process, and maybe im being to picky?
Any thoughts? (I cant try it yet as im building a dual look system with only the MOBO, CPU and SMA8 purchased so far).
