Hi guys
Ive just built a new system and its got the following spec
i7 6700k
Bequiet Dark Rock 3
Asus Rog Hero
MSI 1070
Fractal R5

Ive got one intake fan and one exhaust fan.

Every thing is set to silent. I was getting idle temps of around 50c, so I reseated the cooler and im using arctic silver.

I'm now getting idle of between 30 and 50c, it keeps jumping up and down on each core. During a prime95 test with all fans maxed, it hit 93c.

It feels frosty in the case and the Dark rock is cold to the touch so not sure whats going on? CPU-Z is showing volts of 1.37 when it boosts to 4.2, not sure if this is about right or not.

Thanks

I will give that a go, thanks. Should my idle temps be jumping so much. Makes the fan profiles difficult to keep stable.

I just ran 3Dmark and my temps maxed at 74C with a max CPU voltage of 1.417 V. This sounds high to me, could this be causing the high temps?

I've just changed the V in the bios to adaptive and it's now running at 1.270 under load.
I've been running AIDA64 stability test for 43 min now and max temp recorded is 60C, that's seems more like it. How long should I run the test for to make sure it's stable?

I will try realbench as well and let you know the temp. Will have to wait until tomorrow as I'm having network issues

I find running the Realbench benchmark gives a more true representation of daily usage loads, so just run it 3 or 4 times, if all is good with temps etc try upping your multi and retest, so 42,43,44,45 etc, if it fails you can either roll back to the multi that passed or increase voltage a little if you have temp headroom, upto 80c is fine.
If you find you have a bsod in day to day use/gaming just add a couple more clicks of vcore, so if you end up at 1.275v just bump it to 1.29v.
Hope that all makes sense.

4.60 ? Bundle had to up the voltage to 1.37 cos crysis 3 kept giving me a whea uncorrectable error contacted customer support they told me how to do it.

Ok cheers, just trying to get an idea of your voltage and temp compared to mine cheers :)

Might seem daft to ask but I will....you removed the plastic sticker from the bottom of the cooler before sticking it on the chip yes?

Haha yeah I did, but I have heard of it being done. I'm similar to you, 4.5ghz @ 1.344V and 65 degrees, thats running realbench. It's not too bad, was just expecting a bit better is all. I just going to forget about it now and use it :)
