A customer bright their PC into my shop with stuttering issues in rFactor, on checking the temps in IBT they're knocking on the door of 100c! With a be quiet tower cooler.

This is a pre-overclocked bundle they got from somewhere with the CPU at 4.2ghz and the vcore at 1.35v, isn't that a little high for the air cooler?

Nope volt is ok,sounds like the cpu cooler may need re seating and new thermal paste,that's where I would start.

Do you know the exact model of the cooler? Broadwell-E is pretty toasty anyway.

I believe is a pure rock, the way the heatsink mounts doesn't seem particularly great as the bolts once tightened don't seem to apply much pressure, the heatsink of the cooler didn't seem to get that warm either.

It's been reseated.

how is the temp after reseated? Yeah you are right, with too little pressure to the surface the temp maybe higher.

For BW-E an decent AIO watercooler or custom loop is really a good shout. A lot of air coolers with most case air flow scenarios are often going to be found wanting
