I am looking to build a new gaming rig and am stuck between two choices, Intel's 7700k and AMD's Ryzen 1700. I am only really interested in using it for gaming. I've read that the intel CPU is better for pure gaming but the AMD is more user friendly and changes sockets less regularly. What are your opinions?

I would choose Intel over AMD for games in my opinion
Intel has the edge of having higher frequency with higher IPC however AMD has the advantage of double threads/cores. If it was me I'd get Ryzen but if you are just gaming it gets rather murky, the 6700k used on MM isn't a bad buy if you can find one however you'll need 1000 posts to get it.
