Hi to you all. I just want to ask here before i make a purchase commitment. I have the i7 7700K and a Gigabyte Gaming RTX 2080. What i would like to know, is it a worthwhile up grade to either the i9 9900K or the latest i9 10900K. I am worried about bottlenecking the system with my 2080 so would like any advice on its worthiness to upgrade to either 9900K or 10900K. I have a budget of around £1,800 so i could get a whole new system. I want it only for racing sims, mainly Assetto Corsa competizione and Automobilista 2. To be fair, my current system runs these at max settings no problem, its just i want to maybe get the most life span out of my GPU before thats also requiring an upgrade so any advice would be appreciated on were to spend, if any. Thanks in advance

I think the change of cpu will only really net you less than 10 fps gain, there are a few gamersnexus videos about gpu bottlenecks, so I would suggest having a look there if you want to see a little more, but personally, I'd stick with what you've got :)

Ok mate sounds like its fine at the moment. Thanks for your reply

The big problem is that the newer CPUs 9900 / 10900 don't offer more performance at the same clock speed, so in games that don't use more cores you're relying on clock speed alone to push up performance and if you're already playing at max settings it suggests you won't benefit from that. Hopefully in a few years time it'll be a different story.
