Der8auer has been benchmarking the new intel i7 7740K on a X299 Asus Apex, using liquid helium and hits a stunning 7562mhz!!

Can understand that it takes a lot of hard work and skill, lovely job if you can do it! But..... in real world these benches are completely pointless as they will never be anything other than a figure on a table.

Nice! It looks like the 7740K will be able to do about 200MHz (or even more) higher than the 7700K!

I will be interested to see what it can do on standard cooling. The lake of an iGPU might mean it clocks very well but who knows. Honestly, i'm more interested in the 6 core coffeelake than any of the x299 chips.

especially when all the SkylakeX, KabylakeX aren't soldered but using TIM this time

145W tdp and using cost cutting TIM on £1000+ cpus....

In fact a lot of people care, there is a little community that willing to pay top dollars for such specific chips. You don't care that's completely fine.

it's interesting to look at these sort of results but ultimately people want to know what sort of solid overclocks can be obtained under more conventional cooling...

Saw this linked on the Asus product page, pretty interesting in terms of the thresholds. It will have been delidded so again it's really quite annoying you have to void the warranty if you don't want to be carrying an extra 10/15c (assuming same is 6700/7700).

You kinda knew it wouldn't be though with all those big statements before launch about 'not overclocking' being the answer to crappy TIM. Intel jokers

Don't think You would even get 100mhz more on ambient. I think this cpu will only benefit on cold.

They are better than 100mhz on ambient more overclcokable than the 7700K, The package is much more refined for OC its not just the 7700K Die at all. IMC is also very strong in comparison to 7700K and the Cache OC too.
