i got the bundle with the p7p55d evo oc'd to 3.8

when i turn it on somes times i get a display sometimes i dont. its not the gpu as i have two to test it with.

its like the motherboard is checking for something. i read in the manual about failsafe settings.

there are 2 lights on the motherboard and one of them is for detecting memory speed settings.

when i turn the pc on sometimes it will boot first time. sometimes it boots after 2-3 minutes after hitting the on switch. sometimes it takes so long i have to restart it.

i get the occasional 'overclocking failed error' and 'CPU fan error'

the cooler is a zalman cooler. which has a 3 pin header so its doesnt go into cpu fan ive put it ive put it into pwr fan.

it says in the cooler manual tjhat somemotherboard wont boot if it cant detect a cpu fan. so im geussing i have to disable this feature in the bios. but i cant find it

here is the rig

i7 860 ocd 3.8
4gb corsair
asus p7p55d evo

any ideas on why it fails to give a display and keeps doing these check?

thanx in advance

The cpu cooler will fit into the 4 pin cpu fan header without any problem.

What are your temps like, but I would put a note in the customer forum to be on the safe side though.

ive plugged it in but still the same thing. out of the last 20 boots its only shown a display twice and even then it seems to crash at the bios because when i press del to enter setup it just says' entering setup' and wont go any further

if i flash the bios i will lose the overclock
there are three led's on the mobo. one for ram one for cpu one for vga. every time i restart the machine one of the lights will stay on indicating an error according to the manual.

however this is random. sometimes it will be the vga led sometimes cpu led sometimes ram led.

the last time i had the machine on it was showing 35c for the cpu so thats good
