I suspect that I may have answered my own question. But...

Just replaced my Corsair LPX 2666 (2x8GB) with some faster LPX 3200 (2x8GB). Been running fine with the old memory for about a year now. All the same setting in the BIOS, but the OC does not now appear stable with Intel Burn Test (temps OK). CPU gets 1.28v and mid level LLC. I've now set the LLC up one notch and it now appears OK.

Question. Is it usual that faster RAM can effect OC stability on this CPU?

Thanks in advance.

PS. CPU multiplier is 49.

Simple answer: RAM speed affects CPU stability, yes. This is why most overclocking is done by finding the max CPU overclock with stock RAM speed, then max RAM overclock with stock CPU speed. Then see how high you can get both at the same time (often not quite the maximum) and make tradeoffs. Most people would favour extra CPU clocks over extra RAM speed I'd say, so you could try dropping RAM to 2933.

It may be worth doing the process from scratch with your new hardware :)
