Hello.
My name is Panos. I have been out of the upgrade game for a while but on Saturday i finally received my Overclockers order.
i7 8700k pre binned 5.0Ghz
Asus maximus x hero Wifi
GSkill 3200Mhz CL14
Asus Rog Strix 1080Ti Watercooled
My system runs with EK High Performance 360 Kit and an additional 280mm EK radiator.
I would kindly ask for some help to tune my system so i can get the CPU to run at 5.0GHz .
Should i use manual settings or XMP?
Best regards

Hi. I'm also in the same position as Panos. I used to own a Sandy Bridge i5-2500k and I've recently purchased an 8-Pack pre-binned 5.0GHz i7-8700k along with an ASUS Maximus X Hero Z370 motherboard.

I was hoping that 8-Pack would be able to provide the BIOS settings that he used so we can see how he achieved the 5.0GHz OC when using a vcore of 1.35v - 1.425v.

I'd also like, if possible, to know what software was used to verify this stable OC and also the temps that were noted when running the stress testing.

@8-Pack - would this at all be possible please?

Many thanks,
Topman24.

Hello.
That's what i did with the 5.0Ghz OC setting in my bios and then activated XMP to fine tune the ram. It worked fine like this with prime 95 and gave me a max temp of 57 degrees Celcius. The thing is that maybe the voltage can be lowered to drop the temp even more so the guys testing these CPUs could provide the optimum settings and save us from trying and trying without any guide line. Speaking for myself i haven't got a lot of free time to do that and i would prefer to run my applications instead. No offense but I think the name Overclockers should reflect tuning support not only parts sales.

@ Peterhc - thanks for letting me know but I don't seem to have any profiles saved :-(

Hi Panos,

Would you be able to upload your BIOS OC settings please as my board doesn't have any saved settings at all? I looked in Tool\ASUS Overclocking Profile (section 3.9.3 in the manual) but found nothing. I think this might be because I had to send my board back and Overclockers then kindly updated the BIOS for me. I'm thinking that this may have wiped the OC profile that 8-Pack would have added.

If you aren't able to upload your BIOS settings could you please mail it to me?

Thanks,
Topman24.

The binning process will be very basic, dial in standard settings, stability test and if passes they meet that bin and are sold.

8pack won’t be individually fine tuning each chip for hours on end.

Morning 8 Pack,

I've just spoken to Overclockers Technical Support who have told me that they aren't able to provide me with the saved BIOS file (my board was RMA'd and the BIOS was flashed to the latest version which I think deleted the 5GHz OC profile you would have saved on there).

Could you please send me the BIOS profile that you use on the ASUS Maximus X Hero Z370 boards? (I don't know if you can view my mail address from my profile or whether I should be posting it directly on here so you may have to direct me the best way to get it over to you - I am a Overclockers forum newbie).

I can provide you with any details you require to verify my purchase or RMA.

Many thanks,
Topman24

Post this in the customer service section as they will reply there quicker.

Hi PurplePhoenix,

Thanks for the heads up. I have also posted in the customer service section and included my order and RMA numbers.
