Don't know if I've just got a good chip...But after reading a few posts with people saying that it runs hot when pushed, I'm surprised at how well it runs at 4.7 all cores. Or is 4.7 just pretty conservative for this chip? The test below is running Prime95 (26.6) small fft. Even after an hour or so, I've not seen temps go above 60C. CPU cooling is U14S in push/pull. Aluminium case with good air flow and a fair bit cooler ambient today I suppose (probably around 17C).

Motherboard is an MSI Z370 Gaming M5. Just changed the ratio to 47 and left everything else alone (EG. voltage on Auto).

4.7 is very mild and these chips do not run hot at default even with all cores enabled, that is if your using anything good other than the stock intel cooler lol
as i run 5.2@ 1.38v 24/7 and max temp on highest core is around 73c even at this great speed. then again im delided aswell so that might factor into it lol
still even before delid at default my chip ran cool also just depends on what cooling you use.

The gap from 4.7 to 5.0 is huge on volts and heat, and minimal on performance, if we're honest. Makes no sense that any of us push upwards of 1.3v in for those extra 300mhz - but we will :D

You may also have won the toothpaste lottery and got one that's actually got thermal contact between the die and the heatspreader :)

K chip run at stock.............................. DEAR ME!!!

Indeed what is going on in these forums? Last time i checked the title is still overclockers, not stockclockers.

Others are arguing even for about power 50W consumption on overclocking also!!!!!!

Can we ban him from the forum for a month?

And everyone mentioning power consumption also........ Insta ban. :D
(had enough arguing about 50W power consumption and costs over the years).

I am so glade my customers attitude is burn down every rain forest for 1mhz more!!!

That's about a million SJW's triggered :D

SJW should protest against the useless streets lights. There burn power for nothing..... (and hamper my other hobby, astronomy and astrophotography)
We burn power and using it on our PCs. If the Vega 64 PCB was able to burn 500W do you think I wouldn't push it to do it? Hell that is why 1600W power supply units exist...

I would happily have a dark period, say from 1am-5am daily. Normal people don't need lights at that time. If anything it would be a good synchronising signal for the nation to say "It's late. Go to bed." I miss the old TV switch off, that was amazing.

Meanwhile I'll worry about the wattage of my overclock when all busses are electric and our govt isn't repeatedly declining renewable energy plants :)

Increasingly more and more people are working evening/night shifts and finishing work 1-5am especially with retailers trying to compete with Amazon, etc.

I give it 10 years and they'll be replaced by robots... Maybe we can have streetlight switchoff when everything has infra-red vision :D
