i7 920 cant get 8cores with HT enabled

ive got an i7 920, on a 21 multiplier averclocked to 4.1GHZ with HT enabled.
problem is only 4 cores showing in cpu-z and everest.
when i was running stock speeds, 8 cores were showing but since my overclock, i only have 4.
anyone know why?
my board is a p6t deluxe v2.

thanks in advance.

Try dropping your o/c until you find out when HT comes back into play. It might be a bugged chipset or any manner of things, slightly too low voltages/inadequate psu.

Another thing to check is if you have disabled Turbo o/cing in your BIOS; I've read in reviews that the i7 series, [the 920 specifically in this case] stopped being able to function turbo o/cing effectively after 3.3GHz or so. Whether HT could be linked in some way to this I am unsure.

As said I'd try lowering your clock incrementally until you find when HT threads show back up in CPU-Z.

Strange one, are you sure you didn't disable hyperthreading? I've heard of cores dropping out but not Hyperthreading.

What's the highest clockspeed you can go before this starts happening?

hyperthreading definatelt enabled, will run some tests tonight and see if i can find out at which point i lose hyperthreading.
my psu is an antec cp-850w

By far the most likely explanation is that you've turned off hyperthreading without realizing, or that you're asking software which counts physical cores rather than threads.

checked bios and HT definately enabled.
also reset bios to factory defaults and everest and cpu-z still show 4 cores/4 threads.
help!!!!!

Hi m8 you got yout self mixed up i7 spec = 4 cores / 8 threads, so CPU-Z should show - processors 1 > cores 4 > threads 8, in Device manager> processors> shows as intel core, but when you count them you have 8, easy to get mixed up between cores and threads.
