Ive noticed on my i7 920 do that the tdp constantly sits at 147w, i believe standard is 130w. Im currently running at 3.84 ghz, 21x183 bclk, turbo and ht enabled, speedstep/c1e disabled, would having turbo on and powersaving features disabled be the cause of the increase in tdp? Thanks.

I do have turbo enabled, and from looking at screenshots posted by other members ive seen this tdp rise as well.

It sounds logical. If you want to verify it, set it all back to stock, enable power saving, etc and see what happens.

Set system to stock, speedstep/c1e enabled, turbo disabled, now showing lower.

Actually sitting at 43w idle in windows now.

Thanks again reygjabla, that helps clear it up. Currently any testing ive been doing has been on the 21x multi, ht enabled as well, im gonna see if i can hit 4.0ghz then drop the multi to 19 or 20.

While reygjabla may well be right I hope he isn't, as it would say bad things for the accuracy of cpu-z.

TDP is the thermal envelope of the chip, it should correspond with the power it uses. Increasing voltage or frequency will increase the tdp, much like it increases the temperature of the chip. However TDP is at best a very crude measure of how much power it's using, I'm curious as to why you care what the value is?
