i7 920 feeling its age, any help on overclocking?

So my current specs are:

i7 920 STOCK + noctua nh-d14
Gigabyte UD5 > http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2958#ov
3 x 2gb 1600mhz
nvidia GTX980
120gb Crucial M4
Corsair 750watt

I just got the 780 in the OC sale and its great, really happy with it.

Problem im having is my CPU seems to be showing its age a bit now im not using a 7 year old GPU.

I know the chip can clock rather well and I have a great air cooler.

Wondering if anyone has any guides/tips/instructions for me to get a decent clock, aiming for maybe 3.4ghz which doesnt sound crazy compared to some people.

Ok lots of info, will try this out tomorrow.

I continue to be impressed with this CPU, its 5 years old and its only now really showing a bit of age in Wildstar. Really hope i can get another year or two out of this chip.
