Where you least expect me
evening everyone,
i wanted to clear this up, is the i7 920 going away anytime soon because i do hope it isnt
its just that i heard a few rumours the sources werent exactly reliable but it was enough to scare me a bit any one wanna comfort me/ scare me even more
thanks didaco

Being so far away, i'd wager that something more interesting will be available (or just on the horizon) by then. The 32nm 6 core gulftown will be available then, who knows - maybe intel will decided to go 32nm on cheaper CPUs too. As it is such a long time ahead, its really difficult to predict.

It is also worth mentioning that AMD may release something new by then, and intel's sandy bridge will be just around the corner.

So maybe by that time the 920 won't be the smartest option. But as far as I can tell, it isn't going anywhere. I think intel's marketing has worked well convincing people the i7 860 is better - so we will likely see the 920 for some time yet.

thanks for the advise cmndr i knew pc tech advances quickly but never realised it was that quick
i can finally relax and decide when the sun comes out again (i mean summer not tomorrow)

I agree. You wont be left in the dark. You might even have better options. I am sure we could see 95w i7's on the 1366 to come , even 32nm post i9 so do not worry. Worst case you just end up with an i7 920 .... Oh no terrible. :)
