Have my i7 at 3.8 on my new Asus P6T.

I have a triple rad water cooling setup with EK Waterblock.

This setup kept my E8400 overclocked to 4.3gig at 36 degC.

It is struggling to keep my 920 at 55-60 degC idle.

Is this normal for this type of chip.

seems a bit hot try reseating your block i am using an XSPC the best block and the cheapest im running at 4.150 with 1.360v idle temp 34/35
load 65 i dont run prime for very long only couple of passes as these chips do run hat

Didnt screw it down? Put it on back to front? Didnt connect it to the loop?

E.D.I.T.: My colleague has just asked me to ask if there were any teddy bears stuck between the block and the cpu?

Just tried the what you mention and there is a diffrence.

4gig Overclock

Voltage 1.45v / Hyperthreading On
Idle - 52,52,52,50
Load - 76,61,61,57

Voltage 1.45v / Hyperthreading Off
Idle - 50,50,50,49
Load - 67,67,56,55

Runs all test stable with hyperthreading off but crashes in a few seconds with it on at 4gig clock.

Noticed that with hyperthreading on I have one odd core that is nearly 20oC above the rest.

Wonder if it is worth getting the lapping kit out.

Settings so far. Please note that there is probably things I should be doing with bios but not sure.

Asus P6T overclocked to 4.0Ghz

All bios setttings at auto except the following.

AI Overclock Tuner - X.M.P
CPU Ratio Setting - 20
BCLK Freq - 200
Dram Freq - 1603
CPU Voltage - 1.475
QPI/Dram Voltage - 1.475
Memory Volatge - 1.66

Hyperthreading - Off

Dont matter what you do or change cant get over 4 Ghz.

You may need to play with your NB, SB, VTT, GTL and PLL settings to get it stable. I don't have an i7 setup so can't advise but i'm sure if your asked some of the nutters over at Xtremesystems they will help you out :)

Have just lapped my chip. It had an almighty high spot at one corner and the reason why my temps were a bit wild.

After lapping

Idle - 45,45,45,43
Load - 60,60,50,50

Need to lap water block as well and hope that will bring it down a couple more degrees.
