i7 920 RAM

Referring to my previous post: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18310855

I am still not convinced that I can put anything higher RAM than a 1066mhz into my machine as the i7920 restricts the bandwidth not the mobo.

According to various posts on the internet changing the RAM, does not effect CPU-Z readings at all.

If anybody has a i7920 with ram higher than 1066mhz, could you check your CPU-Z DRAM Frequency and paste it here.

I7 920 @ 4ghz and 6 gig of triple channel ram @1600mhz, showing correct in CPU-Z.

Ok, what's the value showing in CPUz? Also what mobo do you have?

To get an i7 9xx CPU to run memory faster than 1066Mhz you need to overclock it in the BIOS. Often in advanced options but as far as I know no motherboards support 1600MHz natively, in all cases you have to overclock it. However this is very easy to do.

Gigabyte X58A-UD3, CPU-Z = 800mhz.

If i run @ stock with turbo on ie 2.8ghz the ram runs @ 1066mhz.
