i7 920 temp

I seem to be the opposite pole, im getting reports from RealTemp of idle temps 15-20c and 100% load at 55c...these seem very low temps so i dont think its reporting right.
Ive got an i920 running at 4ghz using a noctua push/pull at full fan speed.

Depends on your ambient temp really, if you're living at the North Pole might be right!

I have ordered a new cpu fan, a coolermaster hyper 212 plus

hopefully should be with me weds/thurs

May consider looking for a new case with better air flow

I currently have this case

But may consider this

it's a bit more than I want to spend on a case, but with the psu on the bottom and a few more fans it may be better for cooling

I had a very simular problem when i first got an i7 14 months ago(ish).

Everything fine at 55-60c and when i ran anything it was 75-95, turned out i had not correctly mounted the stock cooler on 1 side. reseating it changed my max temp to 67c, though 3 weeks ago i got a corsair h50 and its now idle at 45-48(after 30 hours on) and doesnt pass 59 unless the room is too hot for me to sit in with the window shut.

You said you tried reseating it with new gel, i hope that worked for you!

Just an update on this

I bought the cooler master fan, and have installed it, I have also bought a new pc case with more airflow.

The processor and motherboard idle at 40o C and under full load it's around the high 60's, around 65-68.

I have been told this is still too high,

Motherboard bios has been updated, so either there is a problem with the processor or motherboard.

But since I have been monitoring the temps, the pc has not been crashing, so it looks like this may have been my problem fromt he beginning

Can you post a scrennie of your set-up and also list down your components? If possible, check your voltages in the bios because some mobo's overvolt the setting specially with stock/unupdated bios.

Just thought I would ask, but could something be interpreting the temperatures wrong.

I have a p6t7 ws supercomputer motherboard, on this motherboard the heatsinks all join together, and on the lower right hand side there is a piece of metal around 2 inches by 4 inches. This gets hot to the touch, and the temp is 40 celcius. but none of the copper pipes on the cpu heatsink are hot, it's very cool to the tough, now I would have though with 60celcius the copper tubes on the heatsink would be pretty hot to touch
