i7 920 / UD5 set up

The Patriot Viper memory use to be used in all the pre-built overclocked 4GHz bundles so it's been tried and tested in a lot of machines - and i'm guessing OcUK had good reason for selecting it apart from its price.

They've started to use Corsair in the above mentioned bundle but it's listed as Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 so it is slightly different to the one you have linked to.

I doubt there will be any real difference but the Patriot Vipor memory has been tried and tested in a lot of systems so if you’re after a bit of ‘tried and tested consistency’ for reassurance then this would be a sound choice.

The vipers are exellent at running at their rated speeds but they are terrible overclockers, there are more then 1 review of them not wanting to o/c well.

bloody hell talk about inflation i payed £68 for them anway yes a would defo recomend them just dont expect to buy 1600mhz and clock them at 1800 like some other brands.

Well the Patriots are not listed anymore and are really exspensive elsewhere.

What other ram is any good to get an i7 920 to around 4ghz?

Well OcUK use Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (TR3X6G1600C8) in their 4GHz bundles - so you know it will have been tried and tested (successfully) in lots of rigs.

That's a pretty good bench mark as a rule.

Yeah i thought about ordering them earlier, was just seeing as to what others prefered though as not everyone buys the bundles.
