Hi all

My current PC:
i7-920 3.2Ghz (160x20)
4gb DDR3 Corsair Dominator 1600 XMP
Asus P6T SE
ATI XFX 4890

I've run 3dMark06 and my score was a lowly 14000, i thought it would be higher.

In my BIOS ive got all my voltages set to AUTO.

Do i need to alter the CPU voltage with the above overclock?

Thanks for any help

Ideally you dont want to use auto voltage when overclocking, auto tends to give things more voltage than it really needs. On stock settings with speedstep/c1e disabled, my voltage in cpu-z reads at 1.2, however im running at 3.6ghz with the voltage dropped down to 1.18. Helps to lower temps as well.

I'll have a mess about with these voltages and find a stable one.

The bottle neck on my PC seems to be my Harddrive now, ill upgrade in the new year.

With my CPU set at 3.2Ghz my memory sits happily at 1604Mhz 8-8-8-24 (Corsair Dominator 1600).

When i increase my CPU to 3.4 onwards (had it at 4.0Ghz) i struggle keeping my memory at 1600Mhz.

How can i set my CPU to 3.4 Onwards and keep my memory at 1600mhz? I keep trying loads of ratios but cant find a suitable one.

The memory is either lower or higher than1600 mhz

Sorry for the noob questions.

Update:

On the above settings (3200Ghz & voltages auto etc) Temp on cores when stress testing on Prime95 (64bit) was about 89c.

I'm now running on manually entered voltage settings and my readings are:
CPU Speed 3600Ghz
Memory 1600Mhz 8-8-8-24
CPU voltage 1.224v
etc etc

CPU Temp when running Prime95
68c - 70c on all cores

Thats a 20c decrease, awesome

Thanks for your help & guidance folks
