I7 920

i think its popular but i wouldnt dare say as much as the Q6600. Even the i5 750 will probably be more popular than it

im defo thinking of changing to i7 cores is there a big differance in performance, the price tag is scaring me a bit

Difficult to say to be honest. The P55 platform seems to do everything well and for a nicer price than the x58, but we'll have to see how popular it gets.

I7 (not sure if xeons included in this figure) chips accounted for 1% of intel sales in previous 12 months (sorry cannot find article to feel free to take with a pinch of salt) so it still has someway to go but the chip is building a good legacy for itself for sure

i think ill wait a bit see if the i7s get any cheaper, i cant complain the q6600 is very fast, just been hearing some people say how much better it is

Yeh it is much better as long as you use it for the things its much better at i.e. encoding, rendering, etc. For gaming though (unless sli/crossfire) the i7 doesn't show such a massive jump as say the core 2s did from pentium.
