please help if you can.

i want to overclock my cpu- intel 17 920 but have no idea how much.

PSU = 750W New antec modular
RAM= 6gb kingston1600Mhz 8-8-8-24
Motherboard = gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R intel X58
GPU = sapphire ATI radeon HD 5770 1024mb GDDR5
HDD = western digital 1TB SATA II 64MB
CASE = NZXT Panzer Bow Alluminium MIDI case

which component do i base the overclocking on? would u advise me to buy a further heatsink?

If you have a stock intel heatsink, then yes a better heatsink is advisable.

You can do moderate overclocking without a new heatsink, but if you want to push the limits then a new heatsink is needed.

I got an increase of 0.5GHz with my Phenom II.

It wasn't a stable overclock (at all) but it was a cool one.

safe...btw how comes so low...surely 1 solid ghz up would be resonable. is it due to ur heatsink, fan etc?

most D0 will do 3.4 on std volts and i would not like to run any more on std fan, dont forget we got the warmer weather to come sill

Not if you already have the 920, but if you are buying a new CPU then I don't see why not really.

i have the same processor and motherboard. and just got mine to 4gig stable with more to go.

i found this guide helped me a lot but ive managed to lower the ich and ioh at stock volts. just take your time and you will be fine. it was a bit overwhelming to start of with but i soon got the hang of it.

thanx a lot...i noticed u also got the 6gb ram...aPERANTLY the kingston rams are best..what do u think??
